Falling before the Final Hurdle
April 2, 2008 5:30 pm General
I seem to be having a knack of falling and getting hurt just before the final hurdle! I wonder whether I have been jinxed… Just a few weeks before my 12th Standard Board Exam Practicals, I fell off the ladder and severely fractured my left elbow. It healed only 80%, that too only after more than 3 months which included 2 complex operations to put the bits and pieces of my elbow together using a metal plate and no less than 12 bolts! Thankfully, my right hand was alright and I gave my best to both practical and theory exams.
Yesterday, barely a month away from my final semester exam, I fell again, this time tripped by a sharp stone poking out from the so-called road inside my college campus while running, fell down to the same kind of stony ground and skidded to a halt nearly ten feet from the place I actually fell! At the end, I managed to bruise eight spots in my hands and knees
, the outer layer of the skin neatly got worn off, broke the glass of the watch (thankfully nothing seems to be wrong with the mobile as of now, symptoms maybe known only later). The doctor says that it will take nearly a week for them to heal! Damn!
I wonder why these stuffs happen to me just before major occasions!

well…dude…is this the real version of the story? I’m told by a lot of witnesses that you were reportedly staring at ‘two things’ so hard that u missed the stone tht came in front of you and you fell….

Two things? What two things?

Even I understood the meaning. Don’t pretend.
Ouch at the elbow. Why were you on the ladder anyway? You should get training on how to fall safely. I’ve falled so many times and never gotten hurt this badly.

@Prashanth - Ooof! Now I understand as well… Well, probably now I should twist the question as to whose two things? Well, whosoever it is, its all just a rumour… I know how I fell, and I have eyewitnesses…
@Marc - I had gone to the the roof to check the water level at the overhead water tank, and while on the return early that winter morning, slipped off the slippery-with-dew ladder!

@ Prashant,
I heard he was multitasking! Staring things near CSE Block and two things near IT Block. He was confused which ‘two things’ to concentrate on.
@ Marc,
PSP fell from the fourteenth floor dude! He had got a job cleaning windows for a multi-storey building and he stumbled upon (or was it digg?) something interesting going on inside the fourteenth floor!
@ PSP,
Get well soon da. You anyway have me for company!

@Sathyanarain - What am I supposed to stare near CSE and IT Block. They are out of focus for me. And moreover, I fell at that freaky road opposite our Royal Mechanical Stone Benches which is far away from the places you mentioned…

Oh. What the hell were you doing climbing ladders before the exams?
I’ve had my share of accidents too. Back in 12th, I went and fell off my cycle right in front of the girls school. I injured my elbow and there is a scar two inches long still. But the real injury wasn’t physical.

@Sundar - Well, as I said I was checking the water level of the overhead tank. Poor you, the sight of your girl from that girl’s school giggling at you, would sure would have injured your tiny heart big!
