Professional Life Starts From June 2nd
April 17, 2008 11:36 pm CorporateWell, I’ve been kinda too busy over the past week typing and formatting my Project Report, and well, I kinda started preparing for the final semester exam with a technical subject, so din’t find time enough to update my blog 
And yes, coming to the topic, About 10 days back, I received my Appointment Letter (Apointment Email, rather) from my company - MphasiS (an EDS Company) asking me to report at their Mangalore Training Facility - codenamed ELLA (EDS Learning & Leadership Academy) on June 2nd itself!
Phew… Just last month we were debating at the Unofficial MphasiS 2008 Community, about how late the IT Companies are planning to call their recruits, and then suddenly, here comes the call! At the first look of it, I was quite surprised and thrilled at having to join the company in the first batch (that we have actually booked Train Tickets), but then, we started to ponder whether it is too early to join?
Exams would have ended by May 5th, but then I guess results would take atleast a month to be out! Which means, we won’t have our 8th Semester Marksheets to submit (which is in any case ,an imprtant document for a fresher joining a company). A couple of guys in college are debating whether to ask for a postponment. Though, I am kinda confused as to how much I am prepared to become a full fledged professional within a very short time from being a typical engineering student, I am quite eager and feel confident to enter the Lion’s Den and view the path ahead with a strong mindset…
How about you people? When are you’re joining dates expected? Or are you planning to take up higher studies? And if so, which college/university have you decided upon?

@Prashanth - Ya, I know… Infosys! But, I heard that tehy will be announcing your DOJ soon after they release their last quarter results. Now that the results have come, still no word of your DOJs?

My only consolation is that I do not have to put up with inept people at work. And I also won’t be treated like shit so it definitely is an upgrade from college life. June 2 is way too early though.

June 2 is too early da. August would be ideal. I’m hoping it’s mid August. It’ll take me that long to learn to tie a tie I suppose.

@ Marc & Sundar - Ya, thats the same I feel… It could have been by July or August. But some people reckon that its good to join the company before the results of the presidential results are out! So, I ain’t gonna protest!

ya june 2 seems very early to me also.
I dont have any information about my joining date but only the month july.
But july also looks very early to me.
I thought we must get some time to enjoy little bit after that we have to work all our life but on the other hand june or july or any other month we have to join so its better to be early then late.

Seems like Infosys DoJ is July. Some consolation. In case my VISA flops, I can stay back.
BTW PSP, I’m sure you can go ahead there, and get your documents couriered/sent later on. I’ve heard of people giving their official documents 3 months into their job

@Gowtham - No da, I got placed in July itself. Hari got placed recently only na. By the time he is called for training, I would have completed training and posted elsewhere… What abt you da? Got placed?

Ya, but still, I would have preferred July. Even now, if I ask the HR, he will ask me to join in next batch. But, I want to go along with our college friends, so, anyway, am joining on June 2nd pukka!
